COSTASERA AMARONE STOLEN: WHY WINEGUARD IS THE SOLUTION

Jan 27, 2023

1500 cases of Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG (2017 and 2018 vintages) have been stolen from Masi winery (www.masi.it) in Italy. The news came in just when we made our WineGuard readily available worldwide and especially for Italian wineries. WineGuard, which is designed also to protect against thefts like this, is an indestructible cryptographic tag system (Crypto-TAG) created and used by the Italian Wine Crypto Bank to track the movements of fine wines single bottle. This means that if these stolen Costasera bottles had had the WineGuard tags on them, anyone – buyer or lover – who scanned the tag would know that the bottles were stolen. At the exact same time, the system would automatically notify the winery of the bottle location and if had been open.
Thefts like the Costasera one, in the era of the WEB3.0 are expected to be increasingly rare, if systems as WineGuard are in place. Based on blockchain technology, NFC (Near Field Communication) tags, AES-128 encryption, WineGuard has also a proprietary platform for data analysis that allows you to trace lots and sub-units, from the pallet to the case up to the single bottle. WineGuard aims at protecting the brand of the wineries, its value and at the same time to guarantee consumers.
