It’s called WineGuard and it’s the indestructible cryptographic tag system (Crypto-TAG) created and used by the Italian Wine Crypto Bank. It is based on blockchain technology, NFC (Near Field Communication) tags, AES-128 encryption and a proprietary platform for data analysis that allows you to trace lots and sub-units, from the pallet to the cash register up to the single bottle.
WineGuard aims to protect the brand of the wineries, its value and at the same time to guarantee consumers. The WineGuard tags are an unalterable certificate of authenticity that lasts over the years giving each bottle a unique identity, which cannot be cloned and that makes its entire life cycle traceable.
The WineGuard service is provided on a “tailor-made” basis since each winery has its own specific needs and its costs may vary accordingly. In any case, the cost structure of WineGuard includes the following components:
• Registration (USD 500)
• Cryptographic tags, including creation of items in the database (maximum cost USD 0.90 each, price may vary based on the number of tags ordered)
• Basic landing page configuration in the system (USD 500 per label or per winery)
• Tag management (from USD 100 annually for every 500,000 tags)
