The Italian Wine Crypto Bank (IWCB), the first and only Wine Bank based on blockchain, cryptocurrencies and digital assets, announced today the membership of two prestigious historic wineries and their wines that will be available in its portfolio. These are Castello di Querceto (“Il Sole di Alessandro” IGT Colli Toscana Centrale 2010) and Tasca d’Almerita (Tenute Regaleali, Rosso del Conte 2015).
The three wineries join other large Italian wineries that have joined the IWCB in recent weeks, including Banfi, Baracchi, Elena Fucci, Giuseppe Cortese, Macchie Santa Maria, Mazzei, Planeta, Sordo and Tenuta Impostino .
Castello di Querceto, “Il Sole di Alessandro” IGT Colli Toscana Centrale 2010
This elegant Toscana IGT wine is made only from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in central Tuscany from a 2-hectare vineyard, planted in 1998. Maceration lasts 28 days and the wine is then aged in oak barrels for 18 months. The wine also undergoes 6 months of refinement in the bottle, in order to integrate all its components in the best possible way.
“Il Sole di Alessandro” has an intense ruby red color, typical of wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The nose is complex, characterized by aromas of black fruit, such as black currant and cherry, and dark spices such as licorice and cloves. The wine also has a marked balsamic note which clearly shows how the typical herbaceous scents of Cabernet Sauvignon have been kept under control.
In the mouth, the wine is lively and the aromas of black fruit are enhanced in the aftertaste by the high acidity. The tannins are well integrated and do not monopolize the sip.
“Il Sole di Alessandro” of Castello di Querceto can be safely kept in the cellar for more than 20 years. In fact, the high acidity and the evolving balsamic and tertiary aromas will guarantee its quality over time. Furthermore, the aging process will integrate the balsamic notes of the wine even better, ensuring an elegant and very persistent sip.
Tasca d’Almerita, Tenuta Regaleali Rosso del Conte 2015
Tenuta Regaleali Rosso del Conte 2015 represents the fortieth edition of the first wine produced from a single vineyard in the history of Sicily, produced for the first time in 1970 from Nero d’Avola and Perricone grapes bush-trained on the San Lucio hill in the Regaleali Estate.
In its long history it has known various stylistic variations, in particular in the maturation process: chestnut wood barrels, Slavonian oak, small French oak barriques; the 2015 vintage was aged in French oak barriques and tonneaux.
Rosso del Conte 2015 displays a lively ruby red colour in the glass, with light garnet hints.
The nose has a complex aromatic bouquet, rich in notes of ripe black fruit and dark spices, such as cloves and juniper. More delicate notes of eucalyptus and orange peel on the finish elegantly complete the aromatic spectrum of the wine.
The sip is well-balanced, with firm tannins that balance the softness of the wine and the fruity aromas. The acidity, as well as ensuring a balanced mouthfeel, enhances the fruity hints and sweet spices on the aftertaste.
Tasca d’Almerita’s Rosso del Conte 2015 is a wine with a great ageing potential that can easily exceed 20 years. The wine has developing delicate tertiary aromas, still not fully expressed on the nose, that will refine during the ageing period. Moreover, the fruity and orange peel notes are fresh and able to withstand a long ageing.
After a period of bottle maturation, the wine will have the opportunity to express elegant tertiary hints of dry leaves, leather and sweet tobacco, as well as spicy notes of licorice and cloves.
